TV ROCK is Ulexite or hydrated sodium calcium borate hydroxide. It was named after its discoverer, the German chemist Georg Ludwig Ulex (1811-1883)—ulexite results from the evaporation of water in intermittent lakes. When cut across the grain with flat polished faces, the rock displays an image of the surface beneath it.
Place your TV ROCK on any printed surface and watch the tiny fibers transmit the image to the top of the rock. This unusual effect results from your rock’s amazing fiber optic properties.
